baby shower part 6: making memories

Jen, Kristin and I have spent quite a few posts talking about our version of a baby shower. I’m sure at least one million ideas exist for baby showers, and I hope to keep reading about them. While this isn’t the one and only, it was our take–uniquely made to fit the time, place and friend. Today we are wrapping it up, and if you missed the beginning, here’s where it all began:

baby shower part 3: making decorations
baby shower part 4: making food
baby shower part 5: making onesies

I have been given the gift of being celebrated in some amazing ways. And for me, throwing a party for a friend is probably one my most favorite things to do.

Celebrating someone tells a story

of our past

of our longings

of our friends old and new.

When it comes to our life story, there’s so much to be alone about and wrestle down (a poignant Lynds phrase.) Celebrating Lynds, in the middle of cold winter no less, helped us all remember the good to come.

And he did come, the little guy we didn’t know a name for.

Benjamin arrived, just at the right time.

And Lyndsay was officially a hands on mother to this little thoughtful guy, and even though she would never admit it, she has this mother thing down–love, watch and love some more. Then wake up and do it again, right?

And while handmade onesies and extra lemon curd don’t fix how tired she’s probably been, the hands that made them and the reminder of people that surround them has hopefully been a boost on any given day.

Lynds and Benj, Thanks for letting us be in this new adventure with you and for being so darn cute. Ugh. ((squeeze))

And Jen and Kristin, let’s throw another party soon, please?
